Welcome to the c-birth recovery programme. I've created this programme to help to reconnect with your body and heal following a c-birth. When I was training in birth recovery one of the most shocking things I was told was that if you have abdominal surgery for something other than birth then you are given a two year recovery programme! But if this major abdominal surgery happens to be a c-birth then you're given the advice to not lift anything heavier than your baby, and don't drive for six weeks! To me this is not ok. You've been through major surgery to birth your baby. You're amazing and you deserve more from our healthcare system. In the following videos we look at common patterns that occur in the body post caesarean, how to help you to identify these patterns and give you some tools to move and feel better. Please remember to bring a mindful kindness towards yourself in all these exercises. It’s important to remember that our bodies have grown and birthed a human. We then have to take care of this little being 24/7 with very little time to focus on ourselves. This takes its tole on our body and mind. So be gentle. Remember every body is different. Move at your own pace. You may also want to keep doing some of the massage and desensitisation as you work through the more physical exercises, perhaps doing them as part of the same session.
